About Mama Liv

Hi there, I’m Kat.

I’m a new mama, a trained postpartum doula and super passionate about helping new mothers rest, heal and enjoy their postpartum so that they can feel supported and empowered in their transition to motherhood.

“It takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to raise a mother.”

Postpartum is a delicate time. It’s a time of discovery, new beginnings and excitement — a time to celebrate, connect and fall in love with your baby. But for many (if not all!) new mothers, it can also be a time of isolation, overwhelm and sleep deprivation. A time where hormones run wild, identities shift and there are not enough hours in a day to get it all done!

My own postpartum experience was pretty rocky, to say the least. I experienced symptoms of postpartum anxiety, was struggling to manage my expectations of a ‘good baby’ and had a hard time adjusting to being a mama 24/7.

I founded Mama Liv with a deep desire to normalize postpartum and create a safe space for families who are struggling in this transition. With Mama Liv, I am hoping to play a small role in helping you ease into your new role and find joy, calm and confidence along the way. You’re worth it.

*** I am double vaccinated against COVID and respect sanitary protocols to keep your family safe during my postpartum visits. ***

Why I became a postpartum doula

If you look at the picture on the right of me gently holding my daughter’s hand during a walk, you wouldn’t know how much I struggled during my own postpartum journey.

After the birth of my daughter Olivia, I found myself struggling. Like a lot. I was often overwhelmed, exhausted and severely sleep deprived. I experienced episodes of postpartum anxiety. I was trying to get through postpartum juggling dozens of medical appointments, all while adjusting to my new role as a mother and running on very little sleep. How in the world I was supposed to get it all done?

Actually, mothers are never supposed to get it all done — a truth that I learned the hard way…
