Every baby is unique. Your postpartum care should be, too.

Gentle postpartum doula support for families during their fourth trimester. Offered in and around Montreal or virtually.

Hello beautiful mama, I’m Kat.

I’m a trained postpartum doula, mama to an energetic toddler who never stops moving and a firm believer in the power of community.

After becoming a mama myself (and struggling with it), I understood how important it is for families to receive proper, gentle postpartum care. I am passionate about helping other mothers enjoy their fourth trimester and empowering them to tap into their intuition so that they can embrace motherhood in all its facets.

At Mama Liv, my mission is to support families in their transition to parenthood, alleviate feelings of exhaustion and overwhelm and help them find joy and confidence in their unique parenting journey.

Because we’re worth it.

“Kat is exceptional! I could not have asked for a better postpartum doula! She is so positive, like a ray of sunshine. She is incredibly helpful, empathetic, full of knowledge, gives relaxing massages, and makes delicious food. Most importantly, I love that I feel 100% safe when my daughter is with her.”

  • guidance with evidence-based information and recommendations

  • tips about breastfeeding, bottle feeding and pumping

  • emotional support, listening and companionship

  • baby care (bath time, diapering, swaddling, hygiene)

  • baby soothing techniques, baby wearing and contact napping

  • guidance on pelvic floor health and maternal healing after birth

  • preparing comforting, nourishing meals and beverages

  • troubleshooting common infant troubles such as reflux or fussiness

  • sleep support (for baby and for the parents!)

  • light housekeeping, or whatever else may be needed to support you

“My goal is to help you adjust to your new role as a mother, so that you can enjoy postpartum for what it is supposed to be - a special time to rest, heal and bond with your baby.”

Grow your village.

Let’s face it… postpartum is hard. Like really hard. Whether you’re recovering from a vaginal birth or still healing from a caesarean, you are pretty much caring for your newborn 24/7. You’re adjusting to your new identity as a mother – all while experiencing the hormonal rollercoaster of postpartum!

As a mother, you will need time and space to rest, heal and bond with your baby. And for that to happen, it truly takes a village. That’s why community is at the core of Mama Liv. As postpartum doula, I am hoping to become part of your village to help you ease into motherhood.

Together, we can grow your village and make sure you feel nourished, cared for and confident as a new mama.

What is a postpartum doula?

I often get asked what postpartum doula is. Why would a family need (or want) a doula? What can a doula help with? How can a doula make your family’s postpartum experience more positive?

Kat is a very talented postpartum doula and a phenomenal human being! She has a beautiful way of supporting mamas in whichever way is needed! Whether through childcare, cooking delicious meals or through active listening!

When my baby was 4 months old, I needed to spend a few hours away from home to have a minor surgery. This was the 1st time that I was away from my baby and Kat stepped in, in my absence. We prepared a plan ahead of time together and my heart was at ease!

Kat is an attentive listener, provided useful and practical feedback and was great with follow-ups to help ease stress and doubt in those few weeks at home with a new baby. Kat is incredibly knowledgeable and has an impressive rolodex of contacts for additional support: lactation consultants, osteopaths, PTs and more!

Postpartum can be a challenging time for families, and choosing the right doula is key! Kat was such a warm and calming presence in our home... she's a real gem!

Kat is incredible. Kat not only filled in at the last moment, but also helped when our daughter had a difficult case of reflux, and when my wife had a stroke when our daughter was only three weeks old. In a dark, challenging, scary period in our lives, Kat was there for us.

We’ll never forget or stop being grateful for her kindness, calm, knowledgeable, and steady presence during what can be (for us, at least) not only a magical family era, but a difficult one. We HIGHLY recommend you bring Kat into this special and intimate time in your lives: it’s the best decision we made, other than deciding to have a baby.

Kat seems to be born to be a postpartum doula. It was not uncommon to see Kat cooking with 3 pots and pans at the same time, carrying baby in the baby wrap and my oldest trying to help her in the kitchen!

I was pampered with relaxing lavender oil massages, therapeutic essential oil blends, and loads of recipes specially designed for the postpartum period! In particular, we will remember the famous pork trotter recipe (my favorite!), for which she would get the meat at her local butcher every week.
